I have a 2019 limited Dodge Ram 1500. I’m having multiple issues with the deployable running boards.

They started making a horrible sound when they moved. Like something was broken. Now they will deploy sometime and sometime they will stay out. While I drive every 2 min it makes a horrible sound. Like it is trying to deploy but can’t. And does it the whole time while driving.

Has anyone had issues like this? Any advice to fix it? Can I change a setting so they stay in place like pull a fuse so I can at least drive it?

Keep them stored on the touchscreen by going to: Safety/Driving Assistance > Power Sidestep > change from Auto to stored. Fyi if you ever disconnect the battery the settings return to Auto.

Most people seem to have similar issues. I try to keep mine clean and spray the hinges with WD40 but they're still useless in the winter.

I've never had a moment of trouble with them and we just went through the whole blizzard thing with subzero temps, and driving it a lot...no problems. OP, betting your problem is something simple like a piece of gravel or ice got lodged in the mechanism. Yes there is a fuse...it's in the fuse box in front of the engine compartment, but I don't recall which specific fuse. (easily searchable). You don't mention if this is happening on both sides or just one...again, betting its just one side.

Thank you. I was at least able to disable them and make it driveable.
