I know there are lots of threads buried in here about this, but thought I'd get some updated opinions. First of all, I may possibly get a topper someday because I am used to having large covered storage like that, but for now, I just want something to keep the bed covered and because of that, I don't want to spend a ton in case I do end up with a cap. I have a friend that has a Bakflip MX4 and while it looks really nice, I found it somewhat heavy and a little cumbersome to open from the sides. Plus, if I had bikes and other gear back there, it will typically require the full bed and I don't really like how it leans against the window so I would probably have to take it off in that case and it is somewhat heavy so I think I am better off with a soft one. I keep this garaged and it is not a daily driver so it won't be exposed to the elements that much. I just want a cover for if I have to run to the store or go on a trip, so I can keep the items I bought at the store or luggage or something back there dry and out of sight. I would imagine for many cases, I may not even have to open it as I can just open the tailgate and keep stuff near the back. So it seems like it would either be mostly closed for the reasons I just mentioned, or fully open for when I am hauling bikes or other stuff like that in the back. I am thinking maybe the soft roll up may work better as it can roll all the way up where the tri-fold may have to be removed, but maybe that isn't the case. I don't know if one is much more secure than the other as either could be cut, but I guess maybe it is more out of sight out of mind. Even with my buddy's Bakflip, I see how it could still be pretty easily pried up, but I still think these would be more deterrent than leaving something in plain sight up in the cab. Anyways, just like to hear your opinions or suggestions. I have the 6'4" bed. Thanks.
