I have a couple of decent bug & tar removers, including Adam’s. The problem is that the paint and some of the plastic on the flare is chipped, pitted, and gone.
I’m not a body guy but I know enough to be dangerous. I have a feeling the only way to fix this is to replace the flares and have the bottom of the quarter panel at least buffed with more than a polishing compound. If not just repainted.
Then it will definitely get PPF. Cheap way out is to clean it near as I can with my own polishing compounds and then have the PPF done. That’ll just bury the existing damage but it shouldn’t get any worse.
I’m still hoping someone has a better idea. Or maybe RamCares helps me with it.
It’s not road paint, not in January/February in upstate NY. It’s not just surface contaminates…. it’s actually eating into the plastic and pitting it.
Was the purple gunk you used Purple Power? They make different degreasers and cleaners. Curious what you used.
