Just my own spin on adding some back up lights. Most people that I've seen do this have them hanging lower than what I would prefer, or seem to be flimsy.

Parts List:
LED's:

U-Bolt:

Honorable Mentions:

I built my own bracket to hang the lights from the U-Bolts. I used some scrap steel, cut to shape, punched some holes and then spray painted to prevent rust.

Various pictures of the mounting and wire run:

I tapped into the trailer harness for power. White = negative and black = reverse.

I absolutely love this setup! I have three sets of these lights and they always perform excellently. In the first image, the backup camera makes the light look floody and with little spread. However, you can see in this final image that they illuminate on a nice and wide angle.

Nice set up and thanks for something outside of the box! The reverse lights are trash, added the tailgate lightbar and it's just up to high..I need something to shine like yours is. Thanks again!

Great job. That’s exactly where I put mine. So far so good, although the LPR route was a lot better for me. Unfortunately had to return them due to tailgate rubbing. Until they come out with the supposed redesign, this will have to do.

Cheers,

LPR?

Gotcha! I was going to go this route, but was concerned about actual output.

The lights I posted are stupid bright. I picked them up for $17 and a now, 4th pair after the $10 lightning sale I saw yesterday.

love the way it looks! everyone here is making me spend more and more looking at everything they have done!

I liked this idea. Great Job. I ordered these lights using the link above and my bracket that came with the lights does not look like the one you have. I tried to attach some pictures but it won't let me. I notice now there are some pictures on the Amazon listing which show the bracket I got.
Did you make the bracket on the light itself or were you just talking about the flat bar piece? Also what was your spacing on the flat bar from the last u-bolt hole to the light bracket bolt? Thanks for the help.

I did the same with mine, only instead of making a bracket to attach the light to the exhaust clamp, I used one of the exhaust clamp nuts to hold the light. Works great and they are tucked in nice and high, you wouldn't know they were there until I put the truck in reverse

Did your light brackets look like mine in the pictures attached? The brackets in the original post look different than what came with mine. I'll play around with it and see how far down they go with the bracket I have.

My brackets are like the OP's brackets

I don’t think it’s a matter of different versions, more of brands. Mine are just eBay cheapos

Yep!

Tentative plan is to mount them on the front valance, near the parking sensors.
@Helmetface : you ever get these amber lights (fogs) mounted to your valance? You did an awesome job with the reverse lights, curious what you came up with. I have similar ambitions for mine.

Where exactly did you mount the ubolts on? I'm interested in doing this project. Just got my 23 Rebel.

Thanks!
