Retrofit steering wheel paddles from GT ?

Just throwing this out there as I have no idea if at all feasible, but does anyone know if the steering wheel, or even just the rear part with the paddles, is able to be retrofitted to other models such as a Limited? I assume the answer is no because it would lack the proper wiring to the transmission but just wondering if anyone has looked into it.

I don’t mind the knob at all, just wish we had paddle shifting

The wiring is probably already there as you have the shift button on the lower right already.
I bet it can be done by just swapping the wheel.

you dont just get rid of the area that the shifter takes up. you also lose all the storage below it. People just don't think.

It’s not a matter of thinking …. It’s a matter personal preference …. I almost held out for a GT …. That’s how much thought I gave it …. Had a shifter in my 2012 Sport … Luv’d it …. So don’t accuse me of not thinking a$$hat

Good lord. Guy asks about paddle shifters on a steering wheel swap, and we’re arguing about center console storage space?
@JVS0302, comparing schematics between the ERS equipped steering wheel and paddle shift steering wheel, everything is the same as far as the steering column control module connectors wiring. The steering wheel harness itself will need to be swapped. There are some settings in the BCM that need to be changed. As far as if a 2021 transmission control module will like those settings changes with the paddles, I’m not sure.

I’m mostly interested in getting the Sport mode. And because that’s a software change, I’m wondering if it puts the Kai Bosh on such a swap.

Coming from F150s, guys stepped in the Raptor wheel and paddles fairly often. Required the wheel from Ford, a custom harness from a community member, and some changes in Fords version of AlohaOBD.

I’m primarily after sport mode. After that on my wish list is simply paddles with the knob. If not possible I’ll take the GT package with its (for me) compromised console arrangement.

I’d love to hack sport mode in, but afaik only oe way to enable sport mode is with the console shifter.

I just started messing with hp tuners and logging shift types. I’m going to try using alfaobd to enable some sport modes and see if it actually changes the TCM shift maps or not. I’d really like a sport mode as well. Paddles would be cool, but only if the TCM will interpret them as autostick, and not crappy ERS gear limit function we get now.

Thanks @Jimmy07 , you are exactly right , I am just interested in getting paddle shifters with a steering wheel swap. I happen to like the rotary dial but would rather not get into that debate because it seems to **** people off lol. I appreciate you taking a look at the schematics. It sounds like from a hardware perspective this may be doable, but as far as the control modules being compatible that is still the unknown. I don't know enough about any of this to attempt on my own, but if anyone decides to give it a try please keep us in the loop.
