Retrieving Out of Reach Items from Truck Bed

I don't carry too much 95% of the time either. I cut a pressure treated 2x8vto fit in the bed slots behind the wheel well. It keeps things from sliding forward. Other than that I have a bed step.

Yeah, I was going to do that... I even bought a straight piece of 2x6 (hard to fine one of those at the big box stores!) But when I put my grocery bins in the back, they sit just a bit too far to fit between that slot and the tailgate. So I ended up buying a ratcheting cargo bar and I have it between the wheel arches.
