Does anyone know if any 2019 ram 1500 keyless entry keys will work as a second set if reprogrammed? My set has 5 buttons, the only difference is not having the tail gate release on the refurbished key I am looking at? I would think it would work. Just need it for the back up set and the wife to have a copy.

I see it looks like you are new to the forum. This has been kicked around a few times. Unfortunately, keys can't be reprogrammed it's in the almost 700 page owner's manual somewhere. Welcome aboard.

Interesting. The response I got from the place listing refurbished keys.


It would have to look the same as your current key.
And then it will require cutting and programming by locksmith or dealer.

"Programming Additional Key Fobs Programming the key fob may be performed by an authorized dealer. NOTE: Once a key fob is programmed to a vehicle, it cannot be repurposed and reprogrammed to another vehicle. "
Is he selling new after market or an already programmed remote? He is selling you a remote and directing you to a locksmith or dealer?

To the best of my knowledge no one has reprogrammed a remote and posted it on the forum.
BUT passive entry was not able to be programmed until the last few weeks so things change.

I have a 2019 Ram Lone Star with the keyless start. I lost one of my key fobs and I am looking into getting a replacement. I have a few questions... - Can I get a used key fob (say from eBay or a junkyard) and have it programmed? Or does it have to be a new key fob? - Does anyone have...

I bought a fob from them, and had it programmed by a mobile locksmith and it works like a champ. I use it every day. It was $139 plus tax/shipping, then $180 for the locksmith. "

The key word reprogrammed. FOB can not be reprogrammed according to the owner's manual.
I think the question might be "Can a 4 button FOB take the place of a 5 button FOB"?
