Hi all. I have a 2022 Ecodiesel, and I am looking to remove my fixed and active air dam.

For the active air dam, I’ve read on this forum that 2022+ trucks sometimes throw a code when removing the entire assembly. Others say it’s a “soft code”. I want to avoid this altogether if possible. I also read in this forum that the active shutters are related/linked to the AAD, and I don’t want to impact the function of the shutters if my AAD gives a code.

I was thinking about removing the fixed dam, plus just the rubber AAD dam, and retaining the motor.

Has anyone done this? Would the ECU sense a missing air dam or will I be fine?

I understand that in the actuated (lowered) position, the rubber dam bracket would likely be visible as it protrudes a bit, but I don’t really mind visually as in the closed position it tucks up behind the bumper.

Any feedback greatly appreciated.

I originally removed the whole assembly, but the truck kept getting a code without a check engine light and the dealer kept calling me to have it checked out. I ended up disassembling by drilling the 2 points on the shaft and then removing the motor and mounted just the motor back on the truck and have had no codes or issues since.
