I can guarantee that this has been discussed, but I cannot find recent thread. Please assist.
I have a 2021 1500 Laramie 4 x4 with a 5.7 hemi. I have hit the 60,000 mile marker.
After getting an oil change and gone home, a month later I started receiving texts from the service dept. that I had deferred to some services. I ignored the first few months because I did not defer anything.
I now have decided to call and find out what did I supposedly deferred on maintenance.
Here’s the list:
Cabin air filter……..I change those out myself.
Brake fluid drain and refill??
Coolant drain and refill???
Transmission fluid and filter drain and refill???
My question…REALLY!!!
I’m 66 years old, I have NEVER, drained and refilled coolant, brakes , and transmission fluid at 60 k miles.
I drive mostly easy driving paved roads. (Except to go hunting).
Anybody have any advise or have the maintenance requirements changed for vehicles the this extreme maintenance timeline?

Where did you get the oil change? A lot of the quick.lube type places are trying to sell a service they never actually provide. Especially to women.

Scam. They are trying to sell you service that you do not need. Simply refer to your owner’s manual and it clearly states what is suggested by the manufacturer. I’d ask them why the owner’s manual, which is written by the manufacturer of your truck says to change the coolant every 10 years or every 150K miles (whichever comes first)? Then ask them who is lying. Now, I’m not saying that everything needs to wait to be done at the max times/mileage, but they can’t claim that you are skipping services. It’s just common sense that things be done when they are needed. When brake fluid turns very dark, it’s time to change it. Probably best not to wait 10 years to change coolant, etc, etc.

Although, I do find that RAM does not expect their vehicles to be on the road very long, or they are prepping to sell a lot of transmissions in the future.

From the owner’s manual

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:

Fluid And Filter Changes

Under normal operating conditions, the fluid installed at
the factory will provide satisfactory lubrication for the
life of the vehicle.

Routine fluid and filter changes are not required.
However, change the fluid and filter if the fluid becomes
contaminated (with water ,etc.), or if the transmission is
disassembled for any reason.

This is simply laughable and a horrible suggestion.
