Last night someone hit my Rebel while it was parked outside of the house , I’m just looking for opinions as to what I should be looking for pertaining to damage . I took pictures , my biggest concern is that he hit it hard enough to make my truck jump the curb . 0BFB6318-63C4-4BA0-803E-CA07FFFB5156.jpeg 76BAB13C-B52B-4834-880E-EC8EA5359755.jpeg 9F1253EC-0E55-4505-B382-EC85A5C13129.jpeg 721AB02D-5F14-4F84-8FB2-42B773C4F181.jpeg A7E07A0B-9A35-44E2-9C59-614098F35B62.jpeg 92E5A84F-D029-4CD1-B085-FFF64E0112D5.jpeg

Because of Covid I can’t take it in to the repair Center without an appointment , I’m still waiting to hear back from them .

How the hell does he still have a mirror on...didnt he sideswipe u?

Betting most of the impact was absorbed by the running boards & tire. (Gotta love those running boards...saved my skin several times.)

Damage wise I'd check the run boards as they and/or mount brkts prob bent. Check wheel for chips/scuffs that are unrepairable. Hopefully it's all just cosmetic dmg. Big thing is, will ur door shut/seal properly after repair, or is there permanent issues requiring a new door.

Will most likely have to replace the door, which sucks since a paint job won't ever be as good as the factory's. Tire looks ok as long as it's not losing air, probably need a new wheel.

Like Steven said check the mounts for the running boards because the studs may be bent/broken.

It was side swiped , the running board has a scuff running along the back half , no dents and it’s sitting straight . My main concern is how it jumped the curb , I was a little worried about it damaging the axle or the sway bar mounts . The kid is 17 and his dad wants to pay for any damages without going through insurance . My neighbours witnessed it and said they thought the tie rod broke on the car and that’s what caused it to veer left into the truck , my one neighbour has video cameras and caught the whole thing on tape .

Tell his Dad to get out his check book. I would want new door, running board, fender flare, wheel and tire. Probably looking at between 3-5 grand for parts and labor.

I took the truck down to the police station so I had to take the highway so while the road was straight I took my hands off the wheel to check for any pulling or wondering but it tracked perfectly straight , the ride was the same as always . The police took pictures and all my info and they’re going to report it to my insurance company so they can deal with it . I waited in all day for this guy to call which he never did and he came and got the car at some point while I was inside .

Sorry to hear this happened, probably a wise decision to file a report and run it through insurance than relying on some guy to make it right.

Most likely all cosmetic stuff, I bet your tire is what took most of the hit causing the truck to hop the curb. I can see white tire lettering on the kids bumper

Just tell the shop that you take it to what happened and they can make sure the axle is not bent and it will be aligned. If you take it to a proper shop that probably a 10k repair and it should be just as good as new when you get it back.

Just an update . The other guy paid the bill , came to $1,500 after tax . They did have to replace the rear wheel , apparently the scratch was too deep to fix it and make it look right .
