Rebel Decal Care

I'm shocked that I haven't seen any threads on how those of us who have the Rebel decal on the sides of the truck keep them looking so new and shining bright. I just picked up my Rebel 2 weeks ago and I used Mequire's Hot Shine on mine but I really dont feel like spraying it on a towel and then wiping it onto the decals everytime I wash my truck. I watched a video on Youtube where one guy used alcohol on them to keep them looking new. Another used Armor All Wipes but then that goes back to me not wanting to wipe them everytime I wash the truck or it rains. Another polished and then waxed them. It'd be nice to hear what everyone use's on their decals.

I have waxed over my decals for many years. I had a 2003 Monte Carlo SS Brickyard 400 edition that had decals all over the car and on the hood. The decals looked great after 12 years, except the aftermarket hood decal that was put on after a slight accident. That one started to discolor and crack. That car was garage kept for almost it's entire life, but the morning dew point and Florida sun attacked it the last 6 months of ownership. The factory decals still looked new after 12 years with regular waxing with the car.

The black decals really pop if you ceramic coat them, but as I learn more about ceramic coatings, I'd say that they need to be reprotected every 6 months.

If you don't protect the decals, they will crack, fade, and start to lift at the edges. There are protectants that offer a lubrication to keep them from getting brittle. The sun and UV rays will cause them to deteriorate without some protection.

I have a 2013 SRT Challenger with side stripes and I polish and wax them once a year. Of course the car only comes out once a week in nice weather. But you need to take care of the stripes just as much as the paint.
