Adding another rear window leak thread to the pile, though with a bit of a twist that I haven't seen in pre-existing threads.
Discovered a minor water leak in the rear window a couple weeks ago, which ended up being due to the seal failing. Took it to the dealership and they confirmed the leak, only to be surprised when they said that the rear window is not covered under the Mopar 3 year factory warranty which didn't seem to be an issue that other people had. However, they covered it as a goodwill repair and replaced the rear glass at no charge. Originally I was told the window was backordered and there was no ETA, but I received a call the next day saying that they received it and I had it replaced on Thursday.
Here's the kicker: I tested the new window out with a garden hose and it still leaks, the bottom gloss plastic trim piece finish looks horrible as if somebody took a heatgun to it, the rear window no longer opens or closes, and there's a new gouge in the paint right underneath the rear window. When I mentioned these issues to the service advisor I was told they may not be able to replace the window since it was a goodwill repair and not an actual warranty replacement, and that I would get more information next week when the service manager returns from his trip. So here I am left with my truck in an objectively worse condition and am wondering if I should have just permatexed the rear window instead of having it replaced at the dealership. Oh well.
Anybody else here with a similar experience regarding good will replacements and things not being covered under the 3/36 warranty?
