Rear Shock Extensions for Coil Spacer?

Called local shop to get a quote to install my 3" front, 1" rear coil spacers on my 2019 1500 Longhorn (no air lift, no factory lift in front). The guy was saying I would need longer rear shocks or shock extensions if I'm going to put a 1" rear coil spacer in it. Anyone have any experience with this and know if its necessary or not?

Recommended but not necessary for 1”.
