Really use some help...collision shop screwing me

Looks even worse then when I polished my 2013 Acadia's headlights LOL.
I wonder if this is even through insurance though?

I strongly suspect the shop is using salvage parts hoping the owner doesn't notice. Based on the number of mismatched paint panel cars I see on the road, many people don't notice or care about shotty work

That's why I said speak to the insurance company. There's enough going on at this shop that I'd argue they repaired the truck with used parts.
IDK where the OP is but in Texas, insurance cannot make you use or stay with a specific shop much less one doing substandard work. OP may need to involve a lawyer
Insurance can't force you to use a specific shop no matter where you are, but once a shop does the job, there is a requirement to allow the shop to try and make it right. They won't just pay another shop to do the work again.

Yep they’ll will “recommend” using one of their preferred shops.. aka probably cutting the insurance company a discount. Screw that find a shop on your own that does quality work that is up to your standards.

This is my experience. sucks because if someone screws up the job I don't want them touching my truck again.

Since you mentioned they charged you $1100, I’m guessing you didn’t go through insurance.
Unless you don’t have collision or you have a super weird deductible. Most insurance coverage in MI anyways, with collision insurance are $0, $500 or $1000 deductibles.

Assuming you’re not making a claim and paying out of pocket on this one?
If Insurance, as said… go through them. Part of the process is initial inspection, then full inspection once you start peeling back the damage to see what’s underneath. It’s a process of documentation and communication.

What it sounds like… (and forgive me if I’m wrong)
They quoted you a price, outside of insurance…and instead of calling you and saying “hey…there’s more damage than initially thought, it’ll cost X more”…they’re cutting serious corners.

So this collision center literally gave you back your truck with a still busted front bumper? That makes zero sense...shame on them for trying to pass this off as quality work.

Shops don't get paid by the insurance right away, and when there's an obvious problem, insurance can refuse to pay citing sloppy work or that work wasn't done. The only time it's an issue is after the shop has been paid and that usually takes 10 business days or more after the car is completed or at least it did at the collision shop I worked at.
I'm aware they won't pay twice, that was not my suggestion; it was to contact the insurance company, show them pictures or have the adjuster meet you at the shop and show them the work and ask that the vehicle been serviced at a different shop. At no point was I suggesting that insurance pay it twice.

Unless you have :poop: insurance, showing them the pics and letting them see the truck would be all that's needed for them to intervene

Now this makes sense, didn't catch that. OP, you paying out of pocket? Pay with a CC

Every time I have used insurance, insurance paid the shop for the quote, minus deductible, and the final payment was me paying the deductible amount. The shops wouldnt even start the work until they got payment from insurance.

Must be different where you are, here and every other place I've seen, shop doesn't get paid till the job is done and signed off by the insured.
We always started work with only customer permission if out of pocket or adjuster ok once they decided on an estimate. We never got paid in advance.
Claims I've made in the last 3 years were the same, progressive paid when the car was completed and picked up.
When I had hail damage on the wife's Honda, service king "repaired" the car. I had to go back a week later (after we picked up the car) and sign the check the insurance company sent

Side note, we were also allowed to use used or none OEM parts on cars more than 3 years old.

As fate would have it.. lost a trailer yesterday (hitch receiver was loose/worn) and had to visit a collision shop yesterday to start the process. Trailer jack his/smashed my bumper, nobody hurt, nobody else involved, was able to safely come to a stop, etc.
Told him I have progressive, they said they were great to deal with.

BUT… he did say the only issue they’ve had is OEM parts on older cars, I thought he said 5 years, but it may have been 3. Considering mine is a 2023 less than a year old, non issue for me.. but yep, can vouch for that personally.

Same thing happened to me towing a uhaul trailer, my fault, I should have checked but uhaul hitched it up but didn't tighten the ball lock knob on the top of the trailer tongue. About a mile out I hit a bump and the trailer came off the ball. Luckily the chains were attached correctly and the trailer nosed dived into the pavement and I drug it about 100 feet. No damage but stupid on my part to trust them
