And guess what, even the year end drops in prices are still insane. And it's going to get worse with the tariffs too. It's so bad I've seen dealership owners doing news interviews admitting basically "we are screwed" because of interest rates they are being charged for lot allocations and sales declines.
 
imagine how bad it is for the salesmen that works on commission and can't sell those thing's. they get paid a flat rate for a new car sale.
 
Probably isn’t just a Stellantis thing. When those tariffs really go into effect expect other manufacturers to do the same. Window sticker aside that dealership has its own bs with pricing going on with the HUGE markup on add ons.

That dealership deserves to go out of business with those shenanigans. Local dealer here has quite a few 2025 Rams with $10-15K showing in discounts and incentives, here are a couple of examples.

Not a job you could ever pay me to do, that's for sure. The things they do to sell vehicles and rip people off. Just soulless husks of air breathers.

It's definitely not just Stellantis dealerships.

That dealership deserves to go out of business with those shenanigans. Local dealer here has quite a few 2025 Rams with $10-15K showing in discounts and incentives, here are a couple of examples.

Yea but even that is insane. It's easily $15k more than it should ever be even with their reductions. And they usually renege on a lot of them as that's just a price they show to get people in the door. Even sitting on the lot for an entire year they are still $50k.

Plus, interest rates right now are INSANE!
 
Wonder what dealers have to pay for their flooplans. How can they keep paying on them when vehicles sit for so long.
 
This guy craps on every car, with the same complaint 'they cost too much'. Love to know what he actually drives.

Well, nobody else seems to be addressing the problem, so I'd rather side with an "influencer" bringing the issue to light and focusing on it than allowing to continually get worse. It's sad that it's happening and COVID was their excuse to cut back on production costs and drive up prices while we pay more overall and their gains end up going from like 15% to 300% in a single year.
 
Oh I agree, I think the best thing to do is probably whats already being done (like in the video) and let the cars sit on the lot. Eventually someone in charge is going to get their head out of their butt with their markup and pricing and price those vehicles to actually sell or continue to sit and when they have to start paying taxes or whatever on them they’ll change their tune. The best thing is a consumer especially with the amount of information available is shop around, purchase out of state if need be or custom order and get what you want for a price you’re happy with.

I drove 800 miles one way to purchase my 23’ Ltd. It cost $6K less than the local dealers’ Laramie. I gave the local guy a chance to find me a Ltd for even reasonably close to the La price, he couldn’t.
Choice #2 was a major city 5.5 hours away in the other direction, they had a Ltd but it still was $4K more than the two in La.
I got well “paid” in cost savings to drive to La and stay overnight. All that savings helped when I traded it off, I didn’t lose as much to depreciation.
The counter argument is that you may not get prompt service/warranty work, or might have to drive farther to a dealer.
I took the savings.
 
Warranty service pays the dealer the same money regardless of where it was bought. A dealer can cop an attitude, but I buy Rams in La, with servuce in Va and never a problem.
 
Regarding price, most dealers lie constantly. I asked the Va dealer if they could beat the La price. They claimed they would lose $3000 if they did. I think the chance of that being true was zero.

When they base their profit margin on markups and they have to buy lot allocations, it could very well hurt them to price match. But again, just goes to show that :poop: flation shouldn't exist in the first place. What one dealership charges for a vehicle in CA, they should charge the same in NY, or OK. There is no reason to charge more other than pure greedy profit. The manufacturer provides the base price and that's what it should be because it accounts for dealership profits already. So yea, it's kinda funny to watch these places shoot themselves in the foot as vehicles begin to rot on their lots. Historically speaking, something has to break and it's never been the consumer. Long term the prices will drop accordingly but the profits were already made and the rest of the market suffers because of it until things catch up and competition starts offering much lower priced options.

Yea the past couple vehicles I drove hours across state lines because the base price was that much less and I didn't have to pay their taxes. So even saving $500 or $1000 was a win. Even still, I used to finance entirely back when 60 months was seen as the long term loan period, then I got to a position where it wasn't needed and I took lower interest rate options to pay off early for short loan periods just to avoid coming entirely out of pocket, but I'd never finance what they are asking now, short period or not. Even new vehicles... anything above 3% is rape IMO. And a lot of people still to this day believe you have to go to the dealer you bought it from which like you said, is totally untrue and also why you avoid dealership warranties.
