RC Nerf bar rust spots

Does anyone have a problem with the Rough country nerf bars getting rust spots everywhere? I have been taking a wire brush to clean it out but Im not sure what to coat it with afterwards.

Not hard. Once you get the rust off, coat it with primer, then put some paint on it.
