few months ago, I had the underside of my 2019 Dodge Ram 5th Gen Limited with a 5.7 HEMI engine and 3.92 axle sprayed with a thick, black grease undercoating for protection. Shortly after, I noticed a cranking sound when turning left or right, seemingly coming from the rear of the vehicle. I took it to a different shop, and after some troubleshooting, they determined the noise was caused by a loose skid plate for the gas tank. They tightened it along with a few other bolts, including one cab bolt they said was loose and tightened further. This resolved the issue at the time. However, about three weeks to a month later, I’m now hearing a clunking noise from the front of the truck, mostly on the passenger side (though I’m not entirely sure), and I’m also feeling a mild vibration in my feet when I press the gas pedal. It’s subtle but noticeable enough to make me wonder if something is wrong or if I’m overthinking it. Has anyone experienced something similar, or can anyone offer advice on what might be causing this?

Do you feel it ij yor steering wheel?

I’m currently experiencing something similar. Dealership said my axle is making a rotational noise and my LCA has play in it.

I hear mine when braking hard, turning mostly right and sometimes accelerating from a stop. I also feel the clunk in the floorboard.

Going to do sway bar bushings and end links after the lca and axle get replaced. If that don’t do it, I’ll do the body mounts.

Yes the vibration, i mildly feel it in the steering. Keep me in loop with your diagnosis. Mine also has 200k kms on it. Ontario, Canada.

I will.
I have my extended warratny inspecting it to see if they will cover the LCA and axle. Not promising since Im lifted but we will see. Should hear back Tomarrow or Monday.

Sounds good, i am waiitng for my inspection on monday.
This crap always has to happen when its 20 degrees out.
If a dealer is doing the inspection, be prepared for a little runaroud. I made them show me what they think is the problem.

Still haven’t heard back on the inspection.
But regardless I will be replacing LCA, tie rod, axle and sway bar links and bushings, whether they cover it or I gotta do it myself.
If i do it myself, I’ll definitely overhaul the entire front suspension, better uca on both sides, hd axles on both, mevotech lower arms. Suspensionmaxx or moog end links. Maybe a couple other things.

Sooo this issue seems like the control arm. We have not changed it yet but the shop guy says thinks its control arm but he doesnt have time till thursday to put up. So lets see

I’m pretty sure I’ve read on here about a clunk in the front end and it needed the sway bar end links tightened .

I have the same situation. I've changed bushings twice and clunking rattle only went away for a few days. I was going to change end links but after reading your post I may be able to just tighten the ones I have? My Laramie does have a 2" lift.

I’m back to shop tomorrow I’ll keep you guys posted guys.
Thanks. I got no other answers other than lca and axle. They will tell me tomorrow how much it’s gonna cost as i assume my warranty wont cover it.
Probably going to do it myself and just mevotech ttx upper and lowers on both sides. Since I’m in there, I’ll do the driver axle and attempt to to do the passenger. I heard those can be a pain.
As a side note: my Allstate Vehicle Protection Plan is canceling my contract due to my lift.
I may need to do sone research on the ole magnuson moss warranty act.
I don’t belive they can prove that my suspension modification ruined my lca and axle. I have maybe 3000 miles on it.
But ohwell. Typical warranty.

Good luck - I experienced the same issues with my 2023. I changed countless parts in hopes of fixing it. Dealer looked at it a couple times and of course said they don't feel anything. I ended up just trading my 2023 in for a 2025 recently, which solved the vibration issues lol. It's got some other misc issues though unfortunately already.

Has anybody checked body mounts? I chased a clunk going over speed bumps and uneven terrain for almost 4 years. Found a post where a TRX owner made the dealer find out why his truck was clunking and they found the body mounts to be poorly designed. They have a replacement that is much better. Cost me $100 for the A and B pillar body mounts and 1 hour of my time. Clunk no more. I had creaking that started after a front end alignment. Found out they left the LCA bolt loose. Once I cranked it down, no more creaking either. I might have caught it before they got damaged.

Yep. I changed my body mounts to those new design ones on my 2023 as well. It did seem to make things better. Ultimately, I changed my Bilstein 5100s out for the RC 3.5" M1 lift kit and that eliminated all clunk sounds I was having. So Idk. I still had vibration issues that I could not track down.
