Ram trucks has best U.S August sales on record

Sales surge on availability of the 2019 1500s

The Ram brand as a whole had a record sales month for August with 54,808 vehicles sold for the month, an increase of 27% compared to August of last year. Ram trucks sold 49,912 Ram pickups in August with 36,798 of those being the Ram 1500. Overall Ram sold 33% more pickups than August last year but is currently down 1% overall compared to August of last year. With 2019 Ram 1500s hitting the lots in much higher quantities now, we expect sales to continue to climb. Check out our charts down below to see how Ram is doing compared to the competition. GM reports their sales quarterly so they will be added to the chart on October 1st.

That's good news for FCA and RAM. I am one of 49912. The new models from both Ram and Nissan are moving sales.

So, doing some quick math...counting chassis cab models, Ford has 10 models in the F-Series, and Ram has 7 models (normally only 6 models, but the 2019 Classic is a temporary addition to the model lineup).

That gives Ford an average 8,184 sales per model and gives Ram an average 7,130 sales per model. Obviously the sales don't spread out that evenly across the models, but that gives a much closer spread in sales between Ram and Ford than the raw numbers would indicate.

But we wouldn't know officially now that GM report sales on a quarterly basis now.

On October 1st we will get an idea of where it all shakes out but it wouldn't surprise me. Ram pickups also outsold the Silverado 3 months last year.

It's definitely true that platform has some unresolved issues, although I'd imagine they are pretty well known for awhile now. But to be fair, it could be people waiting on the 2019s which are only available in limited quantities right now. Ram trucks had a few sales dips on limited availability of the 2019s for awhile this year too, I believe sales surged last month on more 2019s being available finally.

Definitely want to see how the sales numbers look on Oct 1st.
