2022 Ram Rebel Diesel with 50k miles on the odometer. Dealer installed 2" leveling kit and no other mods. Driving down a mountain road on a four-lane divided paved road last week and heard a couple loud clunks from the passenger side front end of my truck, and then things started smoking. Had to go a couple hundred yards to get to a place to pull off of the very busy, steep, and curvy road, (no shoulders, just mountain on one side and drop-off on the other). By the time I pulled over the tire blew and I was on the rim. Brand new LT285 /75 R18 129Q Nitto Ridge Grappler tire, wheel, shock and strut assembly, wheel speed cable, axle, control arm, and ball joint damaged and required replacement, after having the truck taken to the shop by a wrecker. According to two separate shops including the dealer and an independent shop, the control arm failed and the ball joint ripped out of the arm leading to the failure. My biggest complaint is everyone that saw the truck knew what it was and said the same thing before even looking underneath, "I'll bet it was the composite upper control arm." Sure enough. I've seen videos and testimonies about how wonderful those composite control arms are and how sturdy and reliable they are. I'd like to hear from anyone else that has a differing opinion, because I certainly do.
