Ram Rebel tailgate step harness

I just purchased the new 2021 Ram Rebel and I want to install my new side tailgate step. The harness I need to disconnect is different then the one in the instructions ( yellow tab red slide out) the new one shows some kind of white brace. Can someone tell me how
to separate maybe pics.

Looks like you pull the red safety pin out and the white lock will flip over to release the connector.

Also the thing I can’t see the red it look like it is on the white a little or attached Do you think just slide the red and it will release the white? Issue can’t see the red it is between the bed and the connector. I used my phone to see it!

Yes, the red thing locks the white lever into place. You should be able to lower the connection down by either snipping a wire tie or just pulling it off a “Christmas tree”connector.

I unlatched the red clip an heard a positive click and the red lock came out of the white swing arm but the white arm does not rotate and do not see another lock I do not want to break. Can’t believe they need to make so difficult

Sometimes I wonder if the engineers caught their wives sleeping with the mechanics so they design everything to be difficult to work on.

You were correct all you do is remove 1) Christmas tree from bracket 2) slide red lock till you hear a positive click 3) once the red safety lock is moved there is a push release under it. 4) push it and separate the connector. Presto! I hope this helps others - thanks again

Does anyone know if I can replace the red locking tab? It clicked out and I rotated the arm but I guess the red tab wasn't fully released and I broke it.
