Close to getting a 2500. Gas vs Diesel. 6,000 lbs empty TT, 8,000 lbs loaded with cargo +/-. Colorado High Elevation 5,000 ft to 10,000 ft elevation, steep mountain passes. Use the TT 10x a year.
Is the 2500 5.7L HEMI V8 up to the task? This will be my day to day truck so I heard that is not best for diesel?

What about gears ,will 3.73 work on the gas engine vs 4.10. Not too many 2020 2500s around that have 4.10 axle ration?

Thanks....Pete.....

The 2020 2500s have the 6.4 Hemi, no 5.7 anymore in HD.
With a 2500 you will be limited on payload with the diesel, so if you want to pull the trailer and fill the bed with stuff then the gas motor will be your better option unless you step up to a 3500.

You will likely get better info on the sister site, hdrams.com

For everyday driving the 6.4 V8 would probably be the better choice but for the towing you’re describing the diesel would have a lot easier time doing it .
