I was able to fit a 285/75 r18 as a spare tire without modification. Tight fit but doable.

I just put a 35x12.50 in the spare location without modification. Tight fit, but worked awesome.

I know what tire you used now but do you have a short bed ram? Not sure if it makes a difference or not but want to get a larger spare myself.
