Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum. I own a '22 Ram 1500 Bighorn. I had a couple questions. So, yesterday I had change my belts. And had to remove the coolant hoses to get to them. So, I decided to drain the coolant before removing the hoses. I located the radiator drain plug and I started loosening the plug but, it was spinning. Is the plug designed to just open and close like a valve? Also, does it tighten at all? When I was in the midst of draining the plug. I noticed it wasnt coming off. So, I just turned it to tighten it again thinking it was "in place" but on my way to work. I parked my truck and coolant was leaking EVERYWHERE until the coolant box was completely empty. So, (me being a female and I dont know too much about fixing trucks and stuff) asked a coworker who knows their way around engines and stuff. We found out that it was the drain plug that I thought I tightened back up. Is there a certain spec to open and close it? How does that plug work? All answers are welcome. Thank you!
