So we purchased a 2020 Solaire RBS 249. As it sits, it's about 6200 pounds. I pulled it the first time last night to new storage area, about 20 miles closer to home. I've installed a ProPride hitch. The winds were about 20 mph, which clearly pushed me around some. But, NO sway. Very pleased.

In any case, the truck is a 2020 Ecodiesel with 3.92 rear end and 275/60/20 tires. Maintaining 65 MPH was NO issue. But it never shifted higher than 7th gear. This large of trailer is new to me. Is 7th normal? Just the sound of maintaining 2200 RPM continually on the highway caught my ear. I have 36K miles on it and the VAST majority is highway miles, so this is a "new" sound for me.

Just looking for forum wisdom. :)

Yep, you shouldn't expect much more than 7th. With my similar trailer, when cruising on the flats at ~65 mph it's usually in 6th unless I have some helping wind.

I saw 8th on a few brief occasions travel trailer towing maybe 500-600 pounds less than you with a 3.92 EcoDiesel but the vast majority was in 7th.
