Between the manifold & the actual exhaust system there is a 4-5 foot section of pipe (midpipe?) that has a uniformed slight bulge. What is that thing? Should I remove it for better performance?

That is a resonator. The truck has three.

I would not remove it unless you want to hear the MDS drone when you are driving down the expressway.

I really don’t drive it on the interstate and I’m thinking of getting a custom tune, just wanted to make sure it won’t mess up my truck. Thanks for the information!
