Can’t believe I’m posting this but I was detailing my new (pre owned) truck yesterday and got a qtip wedged into the track of the sliding center console storage unit. The previous owner didn’t clean the truck frequently it seems so there was some gunk in the track. As I tried to get the qtip out, I wedged it in the upper part of the track. Lol.

It bothers me knowing it’s there. It doesn’t seem to affect the functionality.

Does anyone have recommendations on small detailing tools, or even a way to disassemble the console unit? There is gunk in many hard to reach nooks of the console, such as the phone holder assembly. Might be worth taking it apart to clean it.

Haha new to me man cmon. It’s my first truck.

Thanks Purple
No laugh intended. I have a 2011 Honda Fit that I received from my father in law. He was 95 1/2 when he let it go. Took me a lot of detailing to get it "new". Looked like it came out of the showroom when I got done. Had less than 12,000 miles on it when I received it. Been there done that and happy for you. I had a hard time cleaning the groove on the edge of the tail lights. Your q tip dilemma reminded me of my efforts. It's amazing what can be done with some "elbow grease".

well what I have found that works the best is steam to clean all the hard to move dirt out of cracks. The steam will break up the compacted dirt and grim. Than take a toothpick to dig the loose stuff out. After that use a q tip or pick with a rag around it to wipe clean. If need be repeat and after it is clean to your likings put your favorite cleaner on it.

Use a hook and pick set to grab the q tip out of there..

how about just removing the sliding bin? the top plastic pops off start from the back of it getting your finger enough grip to pull straight up its held with clips then carrels work to the middle then to the front again PULL STRAIGHT UP. once its off it reveals a nice little empty space that I used for hiding wires from a project. then remove the 6 screws and the bottom from off. if you like me removing the 6 bolts holding the whole center console in was easier it literally slides backwards then you can really dig into it inside a garage.

taking it out was gold for me learned where they ran the wire harness how the back comes out revealing the connectors etc on the back of it
