Hey All,

Firstly - 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn CCSB - 5th GEN - 40,xxx miles

This afternoon I was taking the family out for a little trampoline park time, when we arrived I was unable to shut off my truck as usual with the push button. The truck would not shut off, after many attempts moving forward, backwards, shifting into Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive and setting/releasing the parking brake it shut off for me...

Fast forward - we go to leave truck starts normally but the PTS/ignition button is dimly flickering, the lights took a minute or so to turn on also (Side note - Recently the automatic lights are not correctly registering and turning to DRL during the day when set to Auto. I will turn them to off and it takes 30+ seconds for the dash to illuminate and lights to turn to DRL), next thing that happens is truck alerts to TPMS Requires Service and none of my TPMS are reading. I have noticed some other quirks since I bought the truck like failure to recognize the fob is in the vehicle and not detecting to start; when I am sitting there door closed, foot on brake...

Got home, turned off the truck with the above presented issues. Tried to open door, disconnect battery for upwards of an hour; reconnect now the truck wont start at all. Checked all PCM/ECM & Ignition related fuses. The PTS/IGN Button is still flashing. It also does not recognize the fob commands at all will not lock, unlock, panic, and/or remote start. I tried to push the button with the fob the fob blinks 3-4x red lights... I tried to lock it for the night from the button on the front driver and passenger door, each time door was closed it honked 3 times and unlocked. I relented popped the hood, locked it from the door, disconnected the battery and closed it up for the evening.

Anyone have any similar issues, what could be the cause? Luckily I did purchase a good extended platinum warranty from the dealer that based on the expressed exclusions I should/would be covered.

TIA

Original battery?

If it is that’s the first place I would start. 5th Gens are known for having batteries suddenly go bad and cause all kinds of weird electrical issues.

Jumping on the Battery Train, as well, These Trucks have so much electronics, that register, regulate and communicate, to each other, that any fluctuation/drop in voltage sends PANIC PANC PANIC< DANGER< WILL ROBINSON< DANGER singals everywhere, from everything, to everything, all at once.

My personal opinion is that the signals themselves overwhelm the electronics, far more, than the reduction in power ever does but, that's just my THoguhts on the subject.

Go buy an East Penn/Decca AGM battery and move on.
If unsure what Manufacturer actually makes your Advanced Atuo part, O-rEILLY;S OR k-MART BRANDED BATTERY, LOOK AT TEH HAZMAT SHEET. cAN USUALLY FIND IT THERE.

oops, old guy who acidently kit the caps and dont care enough to go back and change everything.

I'll check not sure if its the original battery. Voltage seems to be registering fine from it but we have had quite the cold snap recently.

I’m going to go with a failed RF Hub, since that module shares all of your issues- TPMS, fob functions, and start button functions.
It your rear window leaking, area behind back seat getting wet? That is where the rf hub is located.

Unlike so many others no luckily I don't have any of the leaking issues. But this would make sense. I also just took out my multimeter and checked the battery it's sitting at 12.62V so it should be good still. Though I think it may be the original battery; it doesn't say RAM on it like the one in my classic did. But it's no typical battery I've seen before at a parts store.

*UPDATE* Bump on this one -

After 18+ hours of battery disconnected I reconnected the battery and truck operates fine. I still elected to have it towed to the dealer since I didn't want issues trying to get it there, dealer can't find anything wrong (my own fault for leaving the battery disconnected for so long and clearing any potential environmental data and codes) only thing they could find was that both my fob antennas are going out which my warranty is going to replace. Which is absolutely not the root cause of the issue. I picked the truck up from the dealer and will go back once they have the new fob in hand to program it. Currently the only remaining issue I have is that my automatic headlights are always on regardless of ambient light, truck is clean; windshield is unobstructed. When I go to turn lights from auto to off it takes 5-10 seconds to turn off, same if I turn off -> on or off -> auto.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Gremlins only come out at night; guess I'll have to wait till something else happens and have it towed straight to dealer instead of trying to figure out the underlying issue myself...
