For lack of a better term, we got a "dog hammock" that's like a fabric box without a lid. Yours looks like a non-shedder but it contains the beagle hair that would otherwise cover our back seat area. We put their beds in it for longer trips but on short ones, we just put some blankets back there.

This is like one we got for my car: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B096KDJSWG/ref=twister_B0B153Z2XV?_encoding=UTF8&th=1
The truck has a different brand.

I use the same style for my Golden Retriever. He always seemed really scared just sitting on the seat when braking and accelerating. With the hammock style he seems much more at ease and relaxed during long rides. It’s nice to keep from falling into the opening between the front and rear seats yet still allow room underneath for putting things on the floor.
