Hi everyone. I install my ProTrax 5” nerf bars (black version) in January and there is a rust bubble on the rear end on the top. The rust bubble is about 2/3 of a dime in size. This is not where I would expect to see a rock chip or a rust spot.

Is this normal to see rust after three months? I take extremely good care of my truck and I wash it every week.

Also, what is my next move? Do I try to repair it or should I call the mfg to have it replaced? I bought it from Reaaltruck.com.

Thank you for your advice.

Matt

I would take several good photos and my actual invoice and contact them first thing Monday.

I finally got a replacement kit. After only four months, I was surprised at the amount of rust I saw on the components. I was really surprised to see that the bolts were rusted deep inside the bars.

I’m just glad to have installed the replacements, but I think these will likely rust out in about 2-3 years if they are like the original bars.
