Programming the FOB

So, about 6 months ago, my knuckle head nephew lost my key fob while snowboarding. He finally saved up enough to replace it. I have it in my hand. Is there any way at all to program it to the BCM without having to take to a dealer and use the scan tool. A number of vehicles have this as an option, but my lack of ability to find anything on 5th Gen models is... disheartening. Any help is appreciated.

I believe on the 5th gens it requires the ability to access the RF hub to program keys. Currently the only way to do this is through a dealer due to the security protocols.

A locksmith can also do it. I had a mobile locksmith come to my house and program a new one for me.
