I have a 2022 Ram 1500 with factory power steps. The driver side works fine but the passenger side stopped working. Any suggestions??

Yes, that is clearly a faulty doohickey.

Maybe just needs the drive motor replaced. First I would check the plug under the truck to make sure it’s not damaged. If you don’t see anything obvious and plugging it back in doesn’t work, then get a replacement drive motor. I am assuming that your warranty is expired? Could also have your dealer diagnose it.

Exact same thing happened to me on my 2022. I just have not messed with it yet. I’m sure the motor will have to be replaced.

One time mine got stuck logically and I had to factory reset my radio. Even removing the power from the battery would not fix it.
Worth a shot imo.

If you have a volt meter with a fairly fine point you can see if you can get the tip of a lead on the Brown/Green wire terminal at the back of the motor connector to see if voltage is present when the steps should be deploying. If you are getting power, the problem is the motor. If no power, the problem still could be the motor's position sensor circuit, wiring, or the control box.

This is really weird. I replaced the 30 AMP fuse and the passenger step started working again. Makes no sense but I am glad its working again.

Might have just needed a reset then. The fuse is for both sides, and if it was bad neither side would work.

I tried to deploy the steps through the radio, also set them to open with the door, pulled the fuse and stuck it back in, and nothing worked. I probed the connector and got a quick trigger power signal, so bad passenger side motor for me. I’ll have to take it to the dealer for warranty repair, where I’m sure my truck will get scratched somehow. Yay!
