Is it normal for the cable to move up while you are opening the sliding glass? It just makes a loop against the big square plastic piece that is attached to the driver side of the moving glass. I never noticed it before but it made a noise on Saturday that drew my attention to it.
TIA!

Yes, due to tension in the cable, its likely it will move somewhat. The noise is considered "normal" Mine makes a single click noise. I know it was a design issue in the 4th Gens.

Be careful opening and closing the slider with someone in the drivers side rear seat. I had my nephew back there and when I opened the window it sheared the cable off of the window (the black rectangle thingie). Broke both of the rivets, tried to get it fixed through 2 RAM dealers and both said it needs a new rear window (which wasn't available to order). So I just used some double stick tape.

Wait...what? What did having your nephew sitting in the back seat have to do with the cable being damaged? Please elaborate.
Dealership said the rear window isn't available to order? Something doesn't sound right about that. Even if they were on back-order, they should eventually be able to get one. Did you just give up on that?

I'm guessing the weight of him (he's about 200lbs) was enough to push up against the glass and when I opened the window the rectangle thingy got stuck between the glass and seat and sheared off.

I actually went to the local RAM dealer today (new state figured new dealer is worth a shot) to bring that up along with some other issues.

Haha...when you mentioned nephew, in my mind I saw like a 10 year old kid sitting on the seat. His feet not even touching the floor.

Is this something you figured out, or did someone tell you this?

It's something I figured out. It's going in Tuesday the 21st for this dealer to have it documented and see what they're going to do about it.

The reason I asked is because the seat should never come in contact with the glass or the cable, or even the track. If the seat is putting pressure on any part of the glass or window track, there is another issue there. Size of the person shouldn't matter in this case.
