New member, be gentle.

I have a 2020 Ram 1500 Sport (Canada model) with the power running boards.

They have been a nightmare for a year, and the dealer is not a big help. warranty is over in July, I have the extended comprehensive etc etc

First they just started moving very slow. Took it in, they charged me for a lube maintainence BS, worked for 3 days properly

Then they stopped working all together when the temp got below say 25 F (-5 Canadian). They would either start deploying and go back with a ding on the dash saying there is an obstruction, or not go at all with dash saying they are "unavailable"

Cannot get a straight answer if they are covered by warranty for full replacements?

Second visit they lubed again, same result.

Anyone else can shed some light?

Fixed ones are an option I guess, I saw the cheap replacement motors on ebay, not sure what the actual issue is.

The passenger does the same thing as drivers, and I can tell you that side has been used maybe 5% as much as the drivers, so i don't believe its a lube or wear and tear issue at the heart of my problem

Thanks in advance

If they don't resolve it before the warranty runs out, I'd just go to a nice looking pair of non-OEM running boards. There are a lot of great options out there for under $300 USD. Those things are bound to break eventually anyway.

Shame the dealer hasn't been more helpful.

Get them replaced under warranty. They are 100% covered. I don't know why they don't just replace the motors and hinges. Maybe that is what they will do next. Especially if you "demand" it. I had the driver's one 2 weeks ago have the motor and a hinge go out. The fixed it under my extended warranty, $100 deductible. I love my power running boards. I live in central FL so mine never see those kinds of temps. But that's no excuse for them not working. Obviously lubing yours is not working.

I have an appointment tomorrow, we will see. Worst case I will buy the motor/bracket combo on amazon for $200 and do it myself. I assume if I get the motor with bracket I am eliminating all possible issues?

That would seem to possibly address all your issues. There is the hinge in the rear that could be binding as well?
