Hello everyone, apologies if I missed this but I really did search the forums and didn't quite find an exact match.
After listening to my squealing passenger side power running board for ages, I pulled it off, cleaned it off, and greased it, then reinstalled. To take the board off, I opened the passenger door, unplugged the connector to the board motor, then took off the hardware and board. Installation was the reverse. While it was disconnected, I may have opened the passenger door and closed it a few times. When I plugged the board back in, the passenger door was open, then I closed it, and the board worked as normal. I've always left the boards in "auto." The battery was connected while I did this.
All was fine (except the passenger side board still squealed) as I drove the truck daily for a week, then I let it sit for 2 days. I came out that evening to a dead truck - the battery was at 4 (!) volts. Off to the parts store to replace the battery, checked for drain (none), and back in business driving it daily for another week. Until it sat for a day - dead again. Caught it in time so I could recharge the battery but had to leave town so the truck sat without a battery for four days.
Reinstalled the recharged battery and the truck runs fine. Battery is at 12.6 volts with the engine off. There's no warnings on the dash, but now the passenger side running board won't deploy, whether opening the doors or through the dash. The driver's side works fine. I did a factory reset on UConnect which I saw resolved some members' problems, but the passenger side board is still unresponsive.
I'm wondering if the running board and the newfound battery issues are connected, specifically if I did something wrong when reconnecting the board. I guess my questions are: is there a specific way to install the OEM boards, or is there any reinitialization necessary when removing and reinstalling these boards? And is there a way to test the board motor to see if it's fried?
