Power Multifunction Tailgate

I have a 2023 Limited with MFT and it does indeed work power down. Just doesn’t power up.
I think that’s what USMUSL is asking…
Correct. But, I don't even have a button in the overhead or on my FOB for it. I've got virtually every option a Laramie could have. I wonder if you have to have a Limited to have power down with MFT on the 2025s.

I have a Big Horn with no MFT, and even that thing has power down on the tailgate . . .

Sticker on mine says Power Tailgate Release on it as part of standard equipment for a Limited.
Anything noted on your sticker?

Good call. I’ll go dig up my window sticker when I get home tonight.

It dawns on me, when I open my tailgate, whether using the normal tailgate function, or the swinging barn door function, the releases are electric. In other words, it’s very clearly not mechanical in nature when I open them at the tailgate.I wonder if ram falls back on that as “power.“

If anyone has a power up MFT, please let me know. Power or FOB release with shock on the tailgate lowers it slowly, but to my knowledge, there is no available option for MFT to power it up and closed.

I dug up the window sticker on my 2025 Laramie. Under the standard equipment, it says "Dampened Tailgate." And, of course, no mention of any power features over in optional equipment where the MFT is shown. I guess that answers my question . . . power (down) release is not even standard; perhaps that became standard on the Limited for 2025.

Since this thread has strayed off topic lets call this what it is. First, all 5th gens have power release tailgates. They require an actuator to release the tailgate. What we are actually talking about is trucks that have remote tailgate release. A button inside the cab and on the fob which releases the tailgate. Then gravity takes over and the tailgate lowers on its own. This will be listed as "Remote Tailgate-Release" on the window sticker and or build sheet, unless Ram has changed this on more recent models. I don't have access to a 2025 window sticker.

To get this thread back on topic, no one has a power up MFT. It's not an option. At least to date. The MFT is significantly heavier than the non-MFT tailgate, and the mechanism isn't strong enough to stand up to repeated use to lift the MFT. Who knows if Ram/Stellantis will ever offer it for the MFT in the future, but it's not available for any trucks built so far.

Thanks. That is sort of what I said... with MFT it is not an option.

On Laramie's it's part of an option package and not standard. On your example it's part of the Laramie Level 1 Equipment Group. You also got it in the Laramie Level 2 Equipment Group.

To be clear, this is not true on the 2025 Laramie, Level 2 ….

I have a 2025 limited with MFT, it has “Power Tailgate-Release”. No power close but the barn doors are very nice to open and reach nearly to the cab. Haven’t put the tailgate down much.

it also has 25H bed utility group, pano roof, 12in, 33gal, trailer b controller. i like it!

I think everyone is getting the tailgates confused. On my 2025 Laramie with the level 2 package, I have the power up and down tailgate. It's not the MFT with the barn door option of opening. Mine mechanically lowers and raises.

The original question was about the MFT not the traditional tailgate. Pretty sure everyone knows you can get the power up feature with the traditional tailgate. There’s no confusion. The question was whether you could get the power up feature with the MFT.

Sounds like a bunch of guys talking in circles to me. How many posts and still can't figure it out.

The original post was about a 2025 Ram. You are the one posting option sheet from a 2020 model. But thanks for sharing.
Guess you missed 1791’s post then (post #29). Like I suggested, if you’d bother to read the entire thread you wouldn’t be confused. Of course the original post was about 2025 models. AFAIK that’s the only year the power up feature has been available so far.
