I had Gemini write this up for me. The sequence has worked without fail. Hopefully, it will work for you too.

I'm sharing a simple, repeatable starting procedure that has completely eliminated the frustrating, intermittent flickering, buzzing, and missing icon issues on my 2022 Ram 1500 Limited (90k miles).

🚫 The Problem

My truck exhibited the classic Uconnect 5 instability (flickering, missing tiles, buzzing radio). I determined the cause was likely related to the system's sensitivity to power fluctuations during engine start.

✅ The Reliable Workaround (Start-Up Sequence)

Perform these steps to ensure the Uconnect system boots up cleanly before the engine crank draws heavy power:

  1. Preparation: Get in the truck and close the door. Allow the initial welcome screen cycle to fully complete and go black.
  2. Accessory Power: Turn the ignition to the ACC (Accessory) position. Wait until the Uconnect screen fully boots up and is displaying the home screen (usually 10-15 seconds).
  3. Engine Start: With the screen running and your foot on the brake, start the engine as you normally would.

🧠 Why This Works

This method bypasses a critical timing fault in the Uconnect software. By booting the system completely in ACC mode first, you allow the Uconnect module to initialize under perfectly stable voltage. When you then crank the engine, the inevitable voltage dip occurs, but it no longer disrupts the critical software loading phase, thereby preventing the glitch.

I've been doing this to a degree for a while also.
Plus, once I do fired up the engine, I let the Uconnect settle for a minute or two to let the NAV, Phone Contacts, Music, etc load up correctly before backing out of the garage..seems to help👍
