After getting 24" of snow the last two days, and having to clear it 4 times with my ATV (takes about 1.5 hours each time - 250' driveway) , I was thinking about getting a plow installed. Anyone have one in their 1500? Any recommendations on a plow? I see whole kits in the just under $2000 range + installation, which for the few times per winter I would need it is the price range I would want to be in (or less!). Just up/down left/right swivel is all I would want, none of those that split in half and have the more advanced features. Any pics / suggestions appreciated. :)

Interesting, I was about to post that you shouldn't, according to the Owner's Manual, operate the DT with a snow plow, but it looks like they've upgraded that for the 2021. 2019-2020 it specifically says not to. I'll let the 2021 owners weigh in. Did you get the factory plow prep package the manual mentions? Just curious.

Didnt know they didnt recommend it for the 2019-2020. No, i never considered a plow before. Not like i would be doing snow plow work with it, it would only be for my personal driveway probably a couple times per winter to make life easier but certainly would look into it more to make sure its not bad for the 1500 to have one on there.

Have you considered a tractor with a bucket so you lift and carry the snow when you have pushed as much snow as far as you can and still have snow left over? Or an old beater of a truck with a plow on that. Plows are hard on trucks period, even when you know what you are doing. Just playing devils advocate here.

I wouldn’t plow with a brand new 1500.
Either an old beater, or a 2500/3500.

Love the SNOWAY plow on my truck, specifically built for 1/2 ton trucks. Plug and play install, wireless remote , down pressure blade. I only plow my driveway, no commercial , remove the blade after plowing. Installed 2” level and Timbren kit so suspension is not getting beat up. 4wd high and e locker engaged moves a lot of snow.

Appreciate all the thoughts! If its bad for a 1500, I certainly dont want to do it. But my use is just like yours @DIRTRIDER
I plan to do my driveway which would take 10 minutes probably with it then take it off. Never leaving it on so not adding that weight to the front. The blade would be down more than its up for the few times I need it.
The idea of an old beater truck with plow did occur to me but the reason at this age my wife and I get new vehicles every 3 years, is its the one luxury and thing I dont ever want to deal with again-car problems. Don't want to take care of some old POS and wife would complain its sitting in the driveway. :) Just considering it for this large of area and appreciate all the feedback!
