Ok I just bought what is supposed to be a 2021 model year Ram Bighorn 4x4 Crewcab with 5-7 box. I’m going to attach a picture of the sticker. Here’s my question. The base price on my truck is listed as $42,990. Problem is, that’s the list on the 2020 Ram Bighorn on the Ram build and price page. The base price for the 2021 is $43090. The paint is olive green pearl, which is listed as a $100 option. That’s consistent with the 2020 build and price, but that paint is not listed under 2021 and most of the optional paints for 2021 are listed as $200 options. The engine is the Hemi etorque which is listed as a $1995 option which is consistent with the 2021 price list.

So help me understand. The sticker says 2021 but the price and color seems to be 2020. Is there some lag between model year and model year pricing?

Did you expect olive green to cost more in 2021? Looks like a 2021 model year to me - some things are obviously going to carry over from the year before. I'd be a little alarmed if every cost and color changed from year to year...

I’m basing my inquiry on the 2021 Ram build and price tool. Maybe it’s not accurate but it is the official Ram page. According to that the 2021 base price should be $43,090. The sticker on mine says $42,990 which is the 2020 price according to the build and price page. I have no expectations, just going off what Ram is telling me on that web page.

They make running changes all the time. Base price and option prices are sometimes adjusted. Also, the build and price tool is not always accurate or up to date. I would venture a guess that you just happened to get an early build '21 that still used the '20 price matrix when the window sticker was printed. Would you have preferred to pay extra for the same truck? Don't sweat it and enjoy your new Ram!

What's your VIN? That'll tell you the model year the truck is.

Colorado and Texas.
They do exactly what was said above and change prices during the model year. My Window Sticker compared to the build price 3 months later when I bought my truck had gone up $800.

Enjoy the truck!

Prices change frequently, as I recall there were four in MY20. Your VIN is for a 2021, so you’re good.

The build-your-truck tool on ramtrucks.com is not exact science. The dealerships have the official tool to order vehicles.

As has been mentioned things change all the time based on parts availability, timing, demand, and other bean counter things.

As long as the VIN and build date reflect a 2021 truck then you you're set.

For those that do not know, the base price and option price and go up during the model year. I have seen a 1K increase at times.

Are you kidding me? You’re concerned that your 2021 truck is not a 2021 because the base price on the sticker (that says it is a 2021) does not match what the website says the base price of a 2021 should be? Wow! I wish I had your problems...

The only thing you need to know is that your title and registration match your VIN and note your model year. Whatever that says is what you have, irrespective of websites. Also, that window sticker has to be accurate as it is federal law. I'm not talking about the dealer "additional retail value" or similar BS papers in the window, I'm talking about that manufacturer's sticker that you showed. That's the car version of "Do not remove this tag under penalty of law" label on your pillow.
