Thinking about painting(body color) the solid red center section on my limited tail lights. Just not sure if it will cause a problem with the sensors, or even where or if they are in the tail light. Any thoughts?

Sensors are definitely in there if you have BLIS. I would think that body color paint would definitely affect them.

I recall someone mentioned they smoked their light and had no issues; not sure if they had BLIS - however, only way to know is try... with plastidip paint to start?

That's what I was thinking. That way I can peal it if it doesn't work. Found a small(1/8) hole in the center that looks like a sensor/sonar hole that might be it. So, will make sure to plug it before coating the lens.

I have tinted taillights and yes it works but tinted taillights is clear, light still shines through. Painted to match the body color would be pretty opaque I imagine but like it was said, try and see.

Let me know what you end doing...

Want to paint the center also but black probably end buying the sport model ones, price its around 800 oem my truck looks to red for me at the rear.

Nice!

Do you have Blind Spot Detection and if so, did it affect it?

No I do not, but I know it doesn’t affect the sensors. As my painter has done taillights with the sensors and no issues.

Did a trial with a couple layers of blue masking tape before plastidipping mine. Neither affected the blind spot sensors. As far as the little pin hole in the middle, it is not a sensor. That is where the plastic is injected.

Now did you sand that down to get it to stick? I’m going to be painting mine this weekend
