Check Engine light is coming on. Error message is P000A Camshaft Position Slow Response. I'm being told by the shop that the resolution is to replace camshaft position sensor.

If you've experienced this issue before can you comment on whether or not replacing the camshaft position sensor is the correct fix? Garage is quoting $250. And does anyone know how many miles I can drive with this until I get it repaired and what the potential issues would be if I drive it too long before repairing? TIA!

Can't comment on the code and your time frame.
BUT
I had a camshaft position sensor (CPS) go bad on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, it was an intermittent problem and I thought it was a fuel issue. It would run fine most of the time then on occasion it would stop running but I was able to start it up again, eventually. I could not rely on the vehicle.

The replacement CPS from Auto Zone was bad and the truck ran but as if the timing was off. I replaced that with
and all issues were resolved.

Based on my experience with my 2001 I would have the CPS replaced.
