when the truck is parked you can deploy the steps and they will stay out, if your is lifted like mine or even stock height this will drastically cut down on door dings, or prevent them period, door dings are one of my pets peaves, hate them, there you have it if you didnt already know

Yep, I do this along with setting ride height to the highest setting when having to park along other cars. I typically try to park well away just to be safe. However I had to park in a crowded lot for a doctor's appointment and sure as hell had a ding later when I got home. It was high enough that it has to be another truck that did it.

Yep, refer to this as walmart/shopping mode. It's going in my Tazer DT wishlist for the future. Something like when you hit lock twice instead of a honk it goes to off road 2 and deploys the steps.

Ever since i own the car, already did 3 paintless dent removal due to door ding.

I bought my truck used back in January and it has a quarter sized dent on the drivers door (surely from another door). I was thinking of taking it to a body shop to ask about how much that'd run to fix. If you don't mind, what did those cost to fix?

If it's a soft dent you can fix it yourself. If it;s a crease you need a PDR pro.

Soft dent you can buy the pdr kits like the ding king or pops a dent for less than $20. A PDR is gonna run $75-$200.

Paintless Dent Repair should cost you $75-$100 to fix.

Cost me $80 each and they come to my house fix it.

dang that sucks, do you deploy the steps? what your average mpg just curious

Yes, the side step is deployed. I'm getting around 16MPG, could get better if I'm easy on it but it would be no fun then.

I love the power steps and how they disappear giving a clean appearance. I don’t like the look of fixed steps. Just me. I also raise my height to OR2 and deploy every time I am parked. I already had 3 PDR repairs done. It makes me crazy.

I find that these steps are not only cool, (everyone who opens the door for the first time, goes "ohhhh!") but they are functional, as they extend out just enough to actually step on, along with being a "ding deterrent".

The fixed steps on my GMC were about 1/4 under the door, leaving only 3/4 for a step and I could only get the toe of my boot on it most times. (My wife fell off the GMC steps several times trying to get into the truck.) These steps we can fully use as a real step up into the cab. Grab the A pillar handle and get in. It also looks sweet when they are folded in, very clean.

Something I've done twice now (shame on me) is getting in the truck in the garage, which is tight to begin with and not waiting until the steps retract before I head out. I've scraped the side of the garage door edge and had to scrape off the plastic from the steps.

Ha! If I am going to be where a ding is imminent, I do the same.
Raise the truck to OR2, and deploy the steps.

Ouch. Be careful out there with those steps. You are lucky you didn’t rip them off the truck. I agree that the power steps are very functional compared to fixed which are always mounted too high up with almost no room for your foot. I hate the steps on my Suburban. They are completely non functional.
