Woke up this morning to a drop of oil on my garage floor from my 2020 Ram (w/ 70k miles)
After some investigation the oil leak is from my intercooler (I think).

Looking at the intake there is a good amount of oil everywhere. Is this much oil past the turbo normal?

My 2020 EcoDiesel, only 10 k miles, has oil seepage on the tubes similar to your photo "IMG_0527.jpeg", but I've never seen any oil drips. I've been wondering what is causing it, but was waiting until I take mine in for the HPFP replacement under warranty.

If still under warranty I would take it in asap to get it looked at. This also helps protect you if issue continues

I have an appointment at the end of the month (the earliest they can get me in! )

I'll reply with what is found

If you look inside the intercooler on any turbo, it is soaked in oil from blow by which is completely normal. Looks like hose could be defective or seal if there is one

What was the outcome?

I was told by a dealer Ecodeisel tech that when changing the oil on these its best to let them drain for at least 30min and preferably more. Its common to overfill these with oil and that blow by is a common side effect of that. Its really not too bad unless you really overfill it. It will find a way out somehow.

^^You are spot on. The intercooler acts as an oil/air separator (catch can). It's normal for some oil and moisture to condense out and collect in the bottom of the intercooler. I learned about this after I bought an F150 with the EcoBoost engine. And it's where I learned about a mod for those where you drill a very small weep hole (1/16") in a key location which allows this oil to drain out. The hole is small enough that it won't affect the intake charge. The reason most owners do this is to correct a misfire condition. I'm not recommending anyone do this on their ecodiesel. I include this video only for informational purposes.

My boss had a diesel VW golf and his intercooler would fill with oil from time to time choking the engine. The mod was similar with adding a drain valve
