I was wondering about that...overall it's less than a foot longer than the short bed so I was hopeful there wouldn't be too much difference. Going offroad in a 21+ foot truck is pretty wild and seems limited to forest road and suchNot yet with my 2020 bighorn. I had a crew cab full size box and the turning is the major issue. Because of the weight distribution you will lose traction at the rear tires more than a short bed or a quad cab.
Nope. Bed of the Quad is 6' 4" and the truck is actually 4" shorter overall than a Crew w/5' 7" bed. That 4" made all the difference fitting my Ram in the garage. That bed with the Quad Cab is the same length as the CC/short bed, isn't it?
Being lighter over the rear wheels?I have the crew cab 6’4 bed which is a pretty big difference in weight distribution
Awesome! This is the kind of detailed response I was hoping for. I used to wheel my old montero all over Colorado when I lived in Louisville and Denver. I'm in CA now, and close to the Sierra so I'm excited to run mine through its paces. Yeah, I used to run the km2 for a long time, but I think when I upgrade I might go Cooper stmaxx because I do avoid bit of commuting so don't necessarily want a full blow mud tireI ran my '20 BH CC w/ 6'4" bed & ORP thru Corkscrew Gulch, Cinnamon Pass, & Imogene Pass among other this week in CO. The hardest part was the initial rock crawl off Camp Bird Road. The Raptors we were with took a center line and scraped. I ran into the left side bushes and eased it down with zero contact impressing the 'Yota crew we were wheeling with.
After this week, I consider the Ram broken in, and it impressed me with its capability. Picking good lines and getting spots when needed is the key. I only contacted the skidplates a couple times and they were light scrapes at best. I used the locker twice, otherwise the factory Wildpeaks and 4wd system did well. I did cut a sidewall but wheeled on it for another 36 hours without issue. They are good offroad tires for traction over rough surfaces, but I'd suggest something else with heavier sidewalls and shoulders if you are going to rock crawl with it.

Nice! I had an 88 2 door swb, and still have a gen 2.5 with factory air locker/winter package. Its a beast at 250k miles. Bought it for $400 in Colorado and put in a junkyard motor (original motor blew head gasket and was over heated and burnt the rings) in 2013 and its still going strong
