No more RamBoxes?

Go to the build site. Choose 2500 Crew Cab with 6'4" bed. You can add Ramboxes no problemo.
The cheese keeps moving, LOL...Yes, on 2500 that box is available with them as it uses the legacy cab and box with different interior, headlights and tail lights....on 1500 it's 5'7" only for RB

And yet my dealer said you can't order Ramboxes on any RAM truck right now... They also told me they can only order 2022 vehicles, yet the ramtrucks.com website only lets you build 2021 vehicles...

I ordered my 22 rebel with Ramboxes back in June. Limited options then (couldn't get 100% of the features I wanted (ie Blindspot) & I keep hearing about more build restrictions from my son that works at the dealer. Still haven't gotten a build/ start date on it and put my 5th gen 19 Laramie Quad Cab (12"UAX radio, etc) up on Autotrader/FB marketplace vs getting a lower trade at the dealer. Just hoping I don't get stock without a truck for too long if it sells.

I know Stellantis is fighting just to keep the line going. Suppliers can't get people to come back to work...ripple effect....affecting my industry too in farm equipment ....

And now it sounds like UAW 1700 may go on strike. That won’t be good.

Hi. I'm new here. The only truck I've ever owned was a 2003 Dodge Dakota with V8 that I bought used with 115k on it back in 2011 for a couple grand. Nice beater truck. I used it occasionally for winter snow driving, hauling wood, dirt and gravel. I live in Buffalo, NY so we are used to heavy snowfall ("lake effect") and wanted a cheap 4WD commuter for during snow storms instead of driving my Accord. But we haven't had any really bad winters for awhile, so it didn't get much use and basically rusted to death while it sat under my lean to. I finally got rid of it earlier this year for parts.

But I want back into a truck, so I've been looking into buying a 2021/2022 1500 Big Horn for a couple weeks now. I started with a Tradesman, went to a dealership, test drove a 2020 with the 5.7 Hemi and loved it. And they showed me that with all the options I wanted it would be cheaper to get a Big Horn. Today I went to the dealership to order my new build, and they told me RamBoxes are no longer available on the Big Horn at all. On any trim. That is a deal breaker for me. It's not available on any of them right now due to the ongoing manufacturing shortages they said. I'm pretty bummed about it. RamBoxes and the incredible interior of the RAM 1500s were what helped me settle on a RAM over the other brands in the first place (although I never really seriously considered a Ford).

So my options are to forget the RamBoxes and go ahead with everything else, assuming no other problems, or wait until/if RamBoxes ever become available again.

My question is: should I wait? They said try back about this time next year. Grrr.
Ramboxes and the multi function tailgate are awesome! i would check with another dealership. i have heard nothing about them being deleted from ordering them.

I did try building a 2500. They are on the build site, but 1. the luxury options I want are not all available for the 2500, and 2. they told me Ramboxes are not available in ANY new build, due to the shortage.

I would check another dealer just to see what they say. It could be they can’t get parts for Ram Boxes. Also likely they may not want to fool with a factory order, hence also trying to steer you away from a 6’4” bed.

That's correct, you could only order a 2022 since around the middle of May. When they'll update the website, who knows? They even changed some options since then and those of us that have ordered don't know if those changes will affect us. Communication and transparency from RAM has been poor around this. That said, with all the supply chain issues, and them trying to keep things moving, I think more changes may come.

OK, so I took the try-different-dealerships advice and looked all around the country. I found a 2021 Big Horn with Ramboxes and most of the features I wanted, in CT (no heated seats and not the color I wanted, but oh well). They took a few grand right off the top and gave me a decent price for my trade-in, sight unseen. So I'll be driving my trade-in out there to pick it up next weekend.

Does anyone have any ideas for must-have aftermarket accessories? I'm thinking at least mud flaps.

I have been purchasing Hondas since the 1990's, and I have to say, I am not very impressed with RAM sales people AT ALL in my experience so far. None of them seem very interested in meeting the needs of the customer. If I am going to spend $50,000 to $60,000 on a new vehicle, I want it the way that I want it. I don't think that's unreasonable. I have tried looking around at other dealership websites, and they all want your contact information before they will even answer any questions.
I’ve had the same issues. They take all your info then constantly bother you. I tell them my must haves and they’ll still harass me with the models I have zero interest in.
The one dealership I did go to tried to charge me $2000 extra after I qualified for 0% interest. I don’t know if that’s industry standard but seems pretty ****ty. Unfortunately that’s the dealer that has the truck I want but I can wait them out. Don’t even need the financing now so they played themselves by not trying to make a deal.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your input. I picked up my new 2021 Ram 1500 Bighorn (with RamBoxes, see pic) this weekend from CT and drove it back to Buffalo. I LOVE it! Very pleased.

The website build & price is intended to reflect current dealer inventory
