No map voice with carplay and iphone xr

Hoping someone can help. When I connect my iphone xr with the usb cable for carplay I don't have voice directions. It cuts out the radio but no voice. Works fine with blue tooth. 8" screen. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

with android auto i have to turn the volume up on the phone to hear it on the radio
