someone who ordered a ram 1500 did not get a trailer hitch.
they got other items for towing a trailer, just not a class IV hitch
they are not on this forum as far as I know
they ordered a rebel

if you are going to order make sure the dealer includes the class IV hitch

I think there is (or was) a class 3 hitch in some of the base packages, which should be fine for light utility or motorcycle/snowmobile trailers. So maybe they don't plan on towing anything heavy.

Or are you saying they expected class 4 and didn't notice that it's optional or part of a trailering package they didn't order? If so, they probably saved a bit on the purchase price, and should be able to upgrade to the OEM class 4 or install a third party product if needed.

A class IV hitch comes standard on a Rebel
If you know someone who got a Rebel without one, tell them to go back to the dealership and have it installed for free.
It's NOT an optioned feature, it's a base feature.

Unless you are saying he got a 2023, which in that case, they removed the class 4 hitch and only give a class 3 bumper-hitch.
It's clearly listed in the specs

They needed to add the class IV hitch themselves, the trailer-tow group package never included a hitch which sounds like they assumed it came with it.
It's $445 for the hitch from the factory.

It looks like for '23 a class IV hitch is an option for anything below a Longhorn trim level. It's a separate option for some trim levels, and on others you need to select an option package to get it.

So what does the Class III Bumper-Hitch mean? My 2024 Rebel came with the support structure underneath but no receiver...???

you only have a bumper hitch
you have to pay for a class 4 hitch
I would not use the bumper itself for any towing. Need a hitch receiver. The class III is basically a bolt on attachment for the support bar behind the bumper

If you've seen how the factory bumpers are attached, you wouldn't be towing anything directly from the bumper. The bumper is not attached the the round brace behind it

I quoted your comment initially because you said he had a "bumper" hitch. I get it, that's how RAM lists it, but it's not an accurate description.

After looking at pictures, the ball mounts through the bumper, but is supported by a welded on tab on the brace behind the bumper. Hence why it's just a class III. That brace is not connected to the bumper.
