I am trying to order a 1500 Limited 6’4” bed but add on the eco diesel and it seems that isn’t possible according to my dealer. Would a Laramie Limited be able to get it? The Diesel and 6’4” box are my requirements but I don’t want to go too far down the trim levels.

My dealer built my Limited diesel order with a 6’4” bed before we caught it and changed to the shorter one which is what we wanted but there doesn’t seem to be a problem ordering it with the longer bed.

Thanks both. Guess I’ll send the config to another dealer and see what happens.

This is what they sent me:

We completed the build for you. We did need to make one change though. To get the 6' 4" box you would need to go with the 5.7L V8 gas engine. They do not have this configuration with the diesel.

The invoice price is $65,837

Can sell it for $65,000 and more than likely Ram will be offering at least a $1,000 rebate. So, we can base it on $64,000

You guys are right. The configuration didn’t throw any errors when I did 6’4” and added diesel.

Like a lot of recent threads talk about, certain options and configurations may be incompatible at dealers to order, at certain times; even if the website’s build and price for us as consumers, allows it. Usually comes down to inventory and parts of the factory to be able to build it in the near future. I’m sure that configuration (Limited 6’4” Bed EcoDiesel) is possible to be ordered and built, just possibly not as this time. I recommend asking another dealer like ya guys said. If they also can’t order it, it’s probably the above problem I just mentioned. In that case, I’d say wait, or build a different order that you would like.

I wanted to follow up. I've since spoke to two dealers who raised zero issues in the last 4 business days attaching an Eco Diesel to a 6'4" bed Limited. So it may have been a day-of limitation by FCA or my local dealer just didn't know how to use the ordering software.

I'm looking at a build sheet now with pricing of an Eco-Diesel w/ 6'4" bed and Limited Trim.

I'm up in Lebanon area. How is your Diesel doing up here? We see below zero a few days a year, any issues to report this year? Are you using the front cover? I speced my build with the cold weather group because I assumed Diesel = run a cover.

Currently with 4100 miles I have not had a problem with it.
Salesman added the Cold Weather group, thinking it added
the heated seats and stuff. I have not installed the cover or
plugged in the block heater.

Other than it is too cold to work on the modifications I want to do.
I have been fabing up an AUX Fuel Tank for the Bed, so add an
Additional 72 Gallons to the stock 33 Gal tank. That puts me at
over 3000 mi range.

What is with salesman lol? Yeah the CWG for the Jeeps and Dodges adds that, but he should really know its completely different for the Ram's. Not to mention it lists the items each package comes with. Good thing ya got it tho.

I imagine the engine block heater will come in handy on sub-zero days. I'll plug it in when I get home for those days I have to start and it's like -20 outside, the engine will be a lot happier.

The CWG should help me on resale a few years from now. there's gonna be some guy up in caribou who wants Diesel and engine block heater built in and salivate over my truck.

Impressive to add an even larger tank. wow.

Yeah just learned on the ED, the block heater comes standard; just the cord and/or cover you can add on. Website says block heater, but it really means the cord; supposedly.

I still have not looked for the heater cord under the Hood, But I did get
this connector to plug the extension cord into without opening the hood.
I want to get a cord with the light in the end.

I’m curious to know, why you would want an extra 72 gallon tank?

I do some traveling and I like to refuel as few times as needed. I also
can pick the area with the lowest fuel costs while I am at it.

Malodave
Ok, good to know, how is the tank connected to your fuel system? I would like to see pics when you have it installed.
I do know the feeling of being close to running out of gas/fuel while traveling, from gas stations being closed to gas stations too far to get to or being stuck idling in the cold or the heat during road closures.

I purchased an extra Filler neck to have some steel NPT bungs welded in.
If you can weld it yourself or remove, weld, and replace at the same time, it
will save you about $200. I want to just replace when I remove the original.

I will run a 3/8" and 1/4" SS Braided filler and vent lines to the tank. The
Diesel Fuel Transfer Pump will do 12L/Min. It is mounted inside the Tank.
EPA Regs say you have to pull from the top of the tank. DOT Regs say you
need to use OEM or better parts.

One last thing to consider is the Truck's Computer throwing a Code. The
System needs to be Sealed. At least that is what I had to do for my'08.
It would throw a CEL code like the Gas Cap was off or loose. The other
thing would be if you tried running just a drain line to the main tank,
The Fuel Gauge would stay at full, so the computer would throw a code
that the Fuel Sender was bad.

I will try and get a couple of pix of the setup on my '08 Big Horn. I used the
bottom 8" of a Bed Rail Tool Box to make the tank and I still have some
storage in the Tool Box. 26 Gal Main Tank and another 36 Gal for the AUX.
With the Hemi getting about 17 MPG on the road, I would get about 950 miles
for a full Truck.

This is accurate. I installed the cord on my 2021. Plug was there. I also ran an outdoor extension and installed it on the bottom passenger side of the bumper. No more popping the hood to plug the truck in.
