Just out of curiosity wanted to see what sidewall you folks are running and why? Traditional design or Block design.

I'm leaning towards the block design looks a little more aggressive.

Traditional (just what shop had installed, and didn't really care). Not the best picture.. 20200612_120241.png

I almost went traditional, but last minute decided top go with the block face.

Glad I did!

I think both sides are nice. I don’t remember thinking about it too much when I had Discount Tires mount them. I’m sure they asked me which side and I just picked one. That pattern on your 18 inch wheels looks good.

I almost got them on my current truck and didn’t even realize they were different. I like the traditional a little better but would be fine with either.

That setup looks amazing! I am researching wheels and tires for my leveled Rebel now. May I ask why you went with the 295/70 instead of the 35's? No judgment - just to help me with my decision.

I don't have these but am looking at them for when I need tires - the block design looks more functional (is this just two sides of the same tire? I'm not familiar)

Yep. One pattern on one side; the other pattern on the other side.

Well just picked up the tires and when you see the 35’s in person you really get a feel of how big they actually really are lol... I mean I’ve had 38.5 on previous truck but still the 35’s are a huge step up from stock.

I must say, seeing them in person has changed my view on what sidewall I will use. I thought I would want the block design but I actually prefer the traditional side as the designs fill up the sidewalls and leave no Gap. The block designs has large gaps between each design. I think the traditional also looks more rugged.

With all that being said, these may be going back and getting changed up for something else. I have another idea in mind. It all depends if things work out the way I need them too.

Left - Block Design....... Right - Traditional Design

Absolutely! I put some serious thought into it.

At the end of the day, I doubted my ability to visually "see" the difference between a 295/70 and a "35". Less than half an inch difference in diameter.

The 35's are 12.52" wide, in an 18" form factor. The 295's are slightly narrower, at 11.77".

I like the idea of having a narrower contact patch, better for adverse weather; snow, rain, etc.

Also, they were cheaper ;)

Here is an interested questions.

Why do the Ridge Grapplers not have any vent spews (those little rubber pieces on a brand new tire), they are only the sides. The tread portion I can see a bunch of little round circles what appear to we places where they would have been. I know they don’t serve a purpose other than for manufacturing but I found it interested these tires don’t have them on the tread compared to other new tires.

I think the poster was confused when you explained the dual tread patttern. I think the poster things you used both designs. 1 design on driver side and the 2nd design on the passenger side.
Ah. Okay. That makes sense. No. I used the same pattern on both sides. But that’s kinda not a bad idea I guess if you like both patterns. My OCD would probably stop me from doing it though. :)

LOL I agree with you. Even though you don’t see both sides of the vehicle at the same time.

It would always know in the back of my head that both sides are different. When I used to have a CB radio and other things installed. I would need both sides to be the same, so I would install a dummy CB antenna on the other side just so everything was identical lol. Even it cost me more money!
