Want to upgrade factory 275/55/20 to something more aggressive. Narrowed my search down to the Grappler and KO2, (For now) But I'm curious if I should go with LT or XL. Any thoughts or experience greatly appreciated. 🍻

No experience with Grapplers or KO2s specifically, but unless you're going to be visiting some sharp rocks (off roading), or needing to air down for deep sand, I'd do XL.

XL is a "heavy duty" version of SL, and does not have the extra weight of the LT tires. Not adding weight (or at least minimizing the add) will help you with power and MPG.

From all my reading into tires back when I got mine, I'd pick the Grapplers over the KO2s. KO2s are an old design, and they still make you pay for them (and the BFG name). But neither are a bad A/T tire. Are you looking to conquer something specific, say snow or mild mud, or just want the aggressive look?

I want an aggressive look, and while it does rain and snow here I'm not going to be off road very often.

I'm trying to confirm 305/55r20 will fit.
They do fit with a 2" leveling kit and a -12 off-set. I'm not sure about the stock off-set and/or no leveling kit. Like Unloosedchewtoy said, the non-LT Nittos are hard to beat because they are so much lighter. My 305/55R20 Ridge Grapplers are 12lbs lighter per tire and they ride a lot better than an LT tire. 20210712_175208.jpg

Just wondering if those of you singing the praises of Ridge Grapplers ever drive in snow/slush much? Those look like great tires for everything except winter conditions. They do not have the 3PMSF rating, and their website doesn't even give them a snow rating. Not sure about the OP, but we get some seriously low traction conditions where I live. I know I'd want something that's rated for snow if that's something I experience on a regular basis.

I live just north of you in Coeur d'Alene and I have no complaints at all with them in the snow. They are better than BFG All Terrain TA's and Toyo AT2's, IMO.

I’ve got Nitto Terra Grappler G2s on mine. Stock Laramie 2x4 with 305/55r20. Wheels are 20x9 +12 offset. There is slight rub on max turn either direction but I’m planning on leveling eventually

If you are thinking maybe the Grapplers, then definitely check out the brand new Recon Grappler. Supposed to be better for more on-road use. I have no opinion on them, just wanted you to be aware before you buy.

Went with stock size Grapplers, 275/55/20. First impressions are great. Thx for all the input

I've got 48K miles on my Ridge Grapplers and they ride very smooth and are still quiet. I think I'll get close to 60K miles out of them. I don't have much ice and snow to deal with in SoCal so can't speak to their performance in that arena but I've been very happy with these tires on- and off-road (I have been a BFG guy for 15 years before this).

I kept my OEM size (275/65-18) and went with the XL-rated version as they were a tad lighter than the Falkens that the truck came with. I have the 3.21 rear and don't plan to load down the truck or tow so there was no benefit for me to jump to the E-rated ones (more expensive and over 10 lbs heavier per tire).

It's apples to oranges but I had KO2s on my last truck (Ford F-250) and they were a nice tire but noisier. I'm sure some of it was the truck (over 2000 lbs heavier and solid front axle) but I only got 40K miles out of the KO2s.
