Hi everyone.
I guess I will get my flame suit on but here is my story.
I bought my Rebel coming from a Tacoma with a 6MT configuration. While I liked the truck and I am a Toyota guy, I made a mistake with the 6MT. I hadn't driven a MT in years, and I realized my mistake when I went to pull my 18ft boat and trailer out of the water on an averagely inclined ramp. That was not a great experience... I guess that's an indictment of my MT skills.
I always thought the Rebel looked sharp. I test drove one on the lot, mulled it over for a day, then drove it home.
I'm crossing my fingers that I can avoid the lifter issue. While Toyota deserves some earned crap for taking a lot of drivability away for I guess CAFE reasons and such, you knew it would go 400k miles with regular maintenance. Hopefully my HEMI will do the same.
I Line X'd the bed and did my first oil change at 3k miles. I put it on ramps, sat up in front of the engine, and got the filter off using adjustable pliers and it worked well.
I read the Refline posts. I guess I am slightly worried about that not being designed as a long interval oil. I will be running Valvoline full synthetic high mileage 5w-20. Looks like the recent formulation has a nice robust add pack.
Anyways, so far so good at 4k miles.
